How to report on ecotoxicology data
Ecotoxicological research is vital to guarantee environmental safety for humans and wildlife. However, inconsistent reporting habits hinder the re-use of valuable data from experimental studies for further research or regulatory applications.
The value of experimental ecotoxicological data is immense and can have multiple applications. But the data can be difficult for other scientists or regulators to reuse. Methodologies are often vague, units and data types are not standardized across different studies and metadata (the data about the data) is usually lacking. This makes it difficult to replicate the findings.
Together with lead author Surendra Balraadjsing, TerraChem team members have published a guide for toxicologists and chemists to report ecotoxicological data in clean ways and solve common data reporting issues.
