Welcome to TerraChem, a three year project (2023-2026), working to understand chemical pollution in terrestrial wildlife in Europe.
We bring together real-world monitoring, modelling of chemicals, source-to-damage pathways, applications for chemicals risk prevention and mitigation, and big data management for early warning of emerging chemical risks.
Together, this offers a new systems approach to reduce harm to wildlife (and humans) from chemicals in the terrestrial environment in Europe, in support of the EU zero pollution ambition.

An interdisciplinary research team led by Professor Heinz Köhler from the Institute of Evolution and Ecology at the University of Tübingen used a newly-developed AI tool to improve testing of bioaccumulation in fish.
