Welcome
Welcome to TerraChem, a three year project (2023-2026), working to understand chemical pollution in terrestrial wildlife in Europe.
We bring together real-world monitoring, modelling of chemicals, source-to-damage pathways, applications for chemicals risk prevention and mitigation, and big data management for early warning of emerging chemical risks.
Together, this offers a new systems approach to reduce harm to wildlife (and humans) from chemicals in the terrestrial environment in Europe, in support of the EU zero pollution ambition.
Latest news
TerraChem collected samples of terrestrial wildlife and soil and complemented this with metabarcoding to understand how these chemicals move through food chains and identify damage to species richness.
TerraChem team members present a new method for chemical risk assessment that helps predict the effects of chemical pollution to ecosystems.
