Welcome to TerraChem, a three year project (2023-2026), working to understand chemical pollution in terrestrial wildlife in Europe.
We bring together real-world monitoring, modelling of chemicals, source-to-damage pathways, applications for chemicals risk prevention and mitigation, and big data management for early warning of emerging chemical risks.
Together, this offers a new systems approach to reduce harm to wildlife (and humans) from chemicals in the terrestrial environment in Europe, in support of the EU zero pollution ambition.

Paola Movalli published a popular scientific about TerraChem on Nature Today. In the article she covers the aim and approach of TerraChem, case studies for WP1 and objectives of the other work packages.
UBA published an overview article in the online membership magazine of the Gesellschaft Deutscher Chemiker (GDCh) Division of Environmental Chemistry & Toxicology. The article provides an overview of the project, preliminary results and an outlook to October 2026 when the project finishes.
