TerraChem-inspired Session at SETAC Europe 2026
TerraChem made a splash at SETAC Europe 2026 in Maastricht, with a TerraChem-inspired session chaired by Guy Duke and co-chaired by Susan Oginah, Paola Movalli and Henrik Barmentlo.
Session 2.12, extending over two blocks 2.12A and 2.12B, was entitled Terrestrial biodiversity and chemical pollution: understanding exposure and impact towards improving risk prevention and management. The session, which drew a packed audience of over 300 people for the whole morning, included 6 platform presentations from the TerraChem team:
- The TerraChem systems approach – Guy Duke
- Emerging results from TerraChem real-world monitoring of chemicals in terrestrial apex species food chains – Antigoni Konomi
- Emerging results from TerraChem modelling of pesticide mixture damage to species diversity – Susan Oginah
- The TerraChem approach to modelling of chemicals damage to functional diversity – Annetrude Boieje
- A review of the treatment of biodiversity in European environmental risk assessment of chemicals – Romana Hornek-Gausterer
- Findings from a review of the literature on PPPs in European wildlife – Philipp Kropf
Valuable perspectives were also provided by invited presenters Kate Fremlin (a historical perspective on bioaccumulation research and regulations), and Ralf Schaefer (a review of the evidence on pesticides as a driver of biodiversity loss). The Session allowed time for a rich discussion with valuable perspectives from the audience.
The TerraChem team also presented 5 posters in the related poster session 2.12P.
